More room to search, with a clear stopping point

500 searches a day. 15,000 a month. Shared by everyone.

What Mario approved

After checking the Cloudflare account, Mario approved 500 search attempts per UTC day and 15,000 per UTC calendar month, with automatic pauses and protection against rapid repetitions. The Workers account remains on Free. No paid upgrade was enabled.

How the pause works

One atomic database update checks both allowances and reserves an attempt before AI processing. Failed attempts after reservation also count. A new UTC day restores the daily allowance; a new UTC month restores the monthly allowance. Both conditions must permit a search. The interface shows remaining allowances and reset times. A page already open during a budget pause can be reloaded after the displayed reset time.

A small gap, without identifying visitors

The service accepts at most one search every three seconds across all visitors. This deliberately simple protection stores only the last accepted timestamp, not IP addresses, visitor identifiers or search phrases. Two visitors arriving together may briefly need to wait. Rejected requests can still consume Workers resources: this does not provide complete protection against abuse or isolate other projects from shared account limits.

Why these limits

The account check found one D1 database and one Vectorize index, both belonging to this search. Workers AI showed only BGE-M3 consumption over the selected 30 days. Other projects, including stasihaft.de, sitemap.download and captured.observer, use the shared Workers request allowance. With one 1024-dimensional vector per page, 1,000 indexed pages and 15,000 searches would use about 55% of the current free Vectorize queried-dimension allowance. This is a planning estimate, not a live account-wide billing meter.

Transition and checks

We conservatively charged the full original ten-attempt pilot allowance to the first daily and monthly counters, so requests during the changeover cannot disappear from the budget. Local tests using SQLite cover both limits, simultaneous submissions, rapid repeats, failed attempts and UTC day, month and year changes. A live search checks the published integration without exhausting the public allowance.

What remains separate

The collection still contains two approved pages from mario-obst.fyi. Crawling and index updates will need their own bounded budget before being opened. Website submissions remain closed and IndexNow remains deferred. The original pilot note remains as a historical record; this entry supersedes its ten-search limit.
