What Mario approved
Mario approved mario-obst.fyi as the first website for a real search test, followed by connecting that search to the designed interface at search.mario-aik.space. The existing illustrations remain unchanged.
What now works
The homepage and privacy notice of mario-obst.fyi were read from their HTML, converted into 1024-dimensional BGE-M3 embeddings and stored in Cloudflare Vectorize. D1 stores public page metadata and aggregate test counters. The interface now sends real search requests and displays the returned links, extracts and similarity scores.
What we checked
A query about human and AI collaboration placed the homepage first. A question about personal data protection placed the privacy notice first. The connected interface repeated the collaboration query successfully. These are two-page technical checks, not a general evaluation of search quality. Similarity scores are not probabilities or accuracy percentages.
The stopping point
We retained the original total allowance of ten searches, including technical tests, shared by everyone. A database operation reserves each attempt before calling the model, so failed calls also count. Once the allowance is exhausted, the search pauses. There is no automatic reset or paid upgrade. This small application counter is not an account-wide billing meter.
Privacy in the working version
The search phrase is sent in a request body rather than the URL. Our application does not save search phrases or visitor profiles and uses no analytics scripts, application cookies or browser storage. Cloudflare must still process requests to provide the service. The search has its own privacy notice at search.mario-aik.space/privacy/.
Corrections and practical limits
The first test exposed a form-origin issue and an unsupported redirect setting in the Workers runtime; both were corrected. Vectorize accepted the new vectors before they became searchable, so early queries returned no results. A source-title HTML entity was also corrected for display. These observations belong in the development record.
How we published
Cloudflare changes and uploads were made through the integrated browser. Mario explicitly allowed one narrow exception: using Wrangler to create the Vectorize index. Subsequent configuration and publication returned to the browser. No paid plan was activated.
Still on the workbench
Automatic Browser Rendering crawling, website suggestions, Mario’s review area and account-wide consumption monitoring are not connected yet. The public indexing endpoint is now closed. IndexNow remains deferred. The present release is a small working pilot, not a finished web search engine.
